FolkWords album review: "One word leaps to mind to describe Heather Styka's voice - purity. On Heather's new album 'Lifeboats for Atlantis' she uses that superb voice to deliver fourteen strikingly pure, charismatic songs that offer cuttingly perceptive observations, heartrending narratives, desperate longing and unconditional love. Adding to the presence of those songs Heather's unique delivery combines the influences of a fragile Irish air, the warm effervescence of upbeat Americana, soulful country and mournful blues. Her voice ensures these songs hit that place in your chest where emotions reside... The discerning beauty and sensitivity sealed within these songs could lead me to list the qualities of each individual track, suffice to say that there is not one 'make weight' here. Every song fits perfectly into the whole and the sum total of this album is stunning. Alongside Heather (guitar, piano) on this album are Sophie Webber (cello) Greg Nergaard (upright bass) Mark Lavengood (dobro) Jordi Kleiner (violin) Rob Clearfield (accordion, piano on 'Sparrow Can Learn') Ty Maxon (guitar on 'Glory Hallelu') and Joel Styzens (drums, percussion)."
