A personal erratic collection of ballads - some sketches, some complete productions, some half-finished, some simply raw emotional ideas. (2001-present). Stylistically this runs from folk to electronica to alternative rock/pop so there's a musical chameleon at work here, but that reflects a broad range of musical influences and the aura of the emotive forces at the time the songs were recorded. The arc of the heart meanders a reflective path through flower-petal days of love into brooding, melancholic nights of lost love. Some of the songs were recorded as musical gifts or cards including 'Woman Of The World" a much-belated appreciation for my wonderful mother who has been forever generous in her love and support. "Asleep" was inspired by and dedicated to my soul-friend Rebecca (the she-Morrisey) who was the catalyst for rediscovering my lost musical passion for which I will be eternally grateful. It is haunting and deeply atmospheric: there is a better world, there must be. "Fallen Angel" was a kind of reverse love-letter for Rebecca. Influenced by Telepopmusik, I had cut the original guide vocal but she as always gave it a feeling of tangible fragility. In fact, most of the self-penned lyrics are autobiographical, open-letters or tone poems echoing the wounds of heartache, life's fragility and ensuing soul-searching when you lose a special relationship. This is a "virtual" compilation and not intended for commercial release...just a small "as is" outpost on the web to collect & share some of these intimate feelings from the moment with flaws and all. - Woman Of The World (Hedges) - Asleep (Morrissey/Marr) - Your House (Brooke) - If This Is All (Barnes/Benham) - Order In Chaos (Barnes) - Fallen Angel (Barnes/Benham) - One & Only (Barnes/Benham) - Mother (Barnes/Benham) - Walk Don't Run (Barnes) - Eternal Kiss (xtended) (Barnes/Benham)
