After years of playing together as an acoustic duet, Andy Sharp and Ryan Harkins decided to record a studio album and share their music with a broader audience. Alive Again reflects the talents of the two young artists across an awesome range of musical genres. From the tinges of folk music in the cheery track entitled “Too Young,” the hip-hop feel of “Ocean View,” to the rock and roll flavor of “New Life” and the intimate taste of harsh reality in the sobering “Sunny Rain,” Sharp & Harkins pour their souls into their dynamic album. The album features eight original tunes written by Andy Sharp and/or Ryan Harkins. If you enjoy the music of their influences (Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Bradley Nowell of Sublime, Tom Petty, and the like), then you will enjoy The Sharp & Harkins Band. There is something to be said about music which people can enjoy lyrically, musically, and even spiritually. One thing that makes their sound unique is a Weissenborn-style acoustic lapslide guitar. Like Ben Harper, they use the slide guitar to add distinctive tones and something rare for people to listen to.
