Self-Evident Truths

"Self-Evident Truths" is the debut release from songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tom More. The album possesses a strong rock sensibility along with strains of blues and jazz all underpinned by rumbling bass lines and driving rhythms. The song's themes revolve around our "inalienable rights" of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and our struggle to actualize those in the tumult of modern life. Several excellent guest guitarists were featured resulting in a diverse sound, feel, and breadth of emotion stretching from heavy, angular riffs to poignant ballads to toe-tapping grooves. While a strong sense of drive and edge comes across in much of his work, there is also a great deal of contrast both within songs and among them creating a sense of musical journey and anticipation of the next turn in the road. His synthesis of styles and expressive use of instrumentation creates a melodic and accessible type of prog rock with great crossover appeal topped by insightful lyrics that get the listener thinking.
