Bio

Hailing from New York city, Tina Keane is a guitarist, songwriter, and evolving singer who enjoys creating well crafted, melodic, guitar-driven pop music. She started playing the violin and jazz guitar at a young age, but was quickly drawn to the classic rock sounds of The Beatles and Led Zeppelin and later to the music of alternative guitar based bands such as The Smiths, REM, and Crowded House. So, she traded in her acoustic guitar for a Marshall and set out to join the world of rock & roll.

Her professional journey began in college, as the lead guitarist and main songwriter for what would become the female, power-pop, band, Oh Mr. Grant, who enjoyed some critical acclaim. The bands rendition of "She Sells Sanctuary," a song they recorded for the album "Horse Nation-A Tribute to The Cult," was released as single and had significant airplay on college radio stations across the country. From touring to recording, Tina has been an integral part of many diverse musical projects through the years. She was the lead guitarist for acoustic singer/songwriter Jason Springwell Lally and played on his 1997 debut and also performed with the alternative, moody rock band Ambulance.

Tina is best known as the lead guitarist and songwriter for the successful New Your City based band Yellowfin, which she formed with singer Stacy Lee Raddatz. Combining sultry vocals and haunting lyrics with edgy guitars and propulsive rhythms, Yellowfin received rave reviews from local critics and fans and played to sold-out crowds at many top venues throughout the city. Production deals, VH-1 appearances and record company interest wasn’t enough to keep the volatile group together, so they eventually called it quits in 2004.

While playing and writing with others is very rewarding, Tina also loves to perform her own creations. Since leaving Yellowfin, she has devoted herself to songwriting and developing her vocal style. Her recent demos reflect her vast musical talent, she plays guitar, drums, bass and sings on all of her original recordings.

Highly influenced by guitarists Johnny Marr, Peter Buck, Andy Summers and Johnny Greenwood, Tina learned through listening to their music the importance of creating a singularly recognizable sound. She strives to achieve this in her own playing. She employs melodic chords and tasteful leads to create a musical backdrop for melody and harmony. But, make no mistake, when called for, this girl can rock!

Take a listen.
