Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song while on the road with New York Voices in Paraguay performing with Paquito D'Rivera. I was missing my baby while also enjoying the beauty and rich culture that this festival and place had to offer. I wrote this after listening to a night of glorious music and musicians.
It's my dedication to my daughter to love her and enjoy all of what she is and will become.
Song Description
This is s love song from a mother to a daughter.
In the stories of Camolot and King Aurthur, Avalon is an island that the Lady of the Lake keeps Arthur safe and eventually offers him Excalibur. I'd like to think I am keeping my daughter safe and teaching her before she enters the world on her own as an adult.
It talks of how our lives change when we have children and how wonderful they are.
It quotes another famous song written by Al Jolson that further layers the depths of this very artful and loving song.

Lyrics
You're mine for now
in all my life I can't believe quite how
Changing everything,
the Summers and the Springs
You inhabit every part of me
I'm on, I'm on your side
Whichever way you choose I'll help you go
Following your heart,
together and apart
You inhabit everything I see
Oh, Here is my Avalon
Oh, Here is my Avalon
The Drum, the Chords
could never play the way they did before
Rearranging time,
you're harmonizing life
with impossible curiosity
I'm not, no I am not the same
Cuz nothing in this world could half explain
My love, the deepest need I know
is to be here long enough
Oh, Here is my Avalon
Oh, Here is my Avalon
I found my love in Avalon beside the bay
And so I'm going to travel on and sail, sail away
