Story Behind The Song
After 44 years as a Southern Baptist evangelical (Bob Jones University), I went through a major shift in my beliefs which led me through the proverbial dark night of the soul - only to come out into a brighter and more glorious realization - one river, many wells.
Song Description
This song is about the realization that what I grew up believing is not really true in any literal sense. I lost my faith and entered the dark night of the soul only to gain new insights and a new lease on life.

Lyrics
Born in the sand
On the outskirts of logic
Dropped by the stork
On the doorstep of life
Schooled in a world
Full of prayer and magic
Hid from the truth
Of both joy and strife
Pre-Chorus
Shame on me
Only saw what they
Said I should see
Faith of a child
For ignorance smiles
On a silly lad - a silly lad
Chorus
Please won't you hold me as
I fall into doubt
Just let me hold you as
My faith runs out X 2
Raised by the rod
And the good book opened
To where we fly
And the stars fall down
Taught from the ancients
I believed them all
Of hell and the fall
And how the sun's not bound
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
