Story Behind The Song

This is a subject many people can relate to. I show the view point of a young boy who's Dad leaves him, to his perspective an a young adult and on. In time, though the scars are left from his Dad leaving him so young, he realizes that his Dad was truly the one to blame. ALL young children blame themselves for their Dad leaving them, don't they?

Song Description

A male teenager asks the age old question every abandoned boy asks their Father; Daddy are you coming back? This young man questions whether HE is to blame for his Dad leaving his mother and himself. In the last verse, he blames his Father as he should have from the start, but that of course takes time and maturity.

VERSE ONE
Daddy told me that he loved me, yet he went to Tennessee.
and he left my Momma by herself to raise and care for me,
in a trailer with no heat we lived in poverty each day,
and I asked myself what did I do wrong cause my Daddy's, gone away.

Momma didn't have much schooling, so she couldn't write or read, but she taught me lessons books don't teach on lust and power and greed.
On the day she died my Daddy left condolences by phone,

I just asked myself would my Dad leave them like he left my Ma, and me.
