Lyrics
1. On our way to school where golden is the rule
Or we time out on a stool in the corner
Try to get an "A" but I forgot that it was due today
And Bobby's pulled away he's a slow learner
They always let us in though we never quite fit in
Often end up standing in the hall
We only get to play if we're quiet and obey
Sometimes we hardly see the playground at all
Time to go to school boys. Time to go to school...
2. On our way to school where we never will be cool
Always hanging out with freaks and greasers
We hope along the way they'll play movies every day
And maybe let us clean the erasers
They try to lock us in 'cause we never quite fit in
Often lined up with our backs against a wall
As we sneak away to smoke another jay
They don't seem to miss us at all
Time to go to school boys. Time to go to school...
3. They finally set us free give us a degree
And declare us all replete with knowledge
We take a look around at the fast food jobs we found
Now we all are safely bound for college
And so they condescend they don't care if we fit in
Often feeling like we're heading for a fall
And if you want advice don't bother to be nice
Kindergarten rules don't work at all
Time to go to school boys. Time to go to school...
4. And so we finish up with grades that don't quite suck
Get a job and wait for a vacation
Married with three kids wondering what we did
The school of hardest luck our education
And so we all pretend that somehow we all fit in
Together with our backs against the wall
And if we find a way to find the time to play
We try to teach our kids how not to drop the ball.
Time to go to school boys. Time to go to school... x2
