Story Behind The Song
I originally wrote a song called Refuge at the beginning of this year. I later transitioned the chorus of that song: "Don't you know that...know that I've been lost" into being part of this song. The goal here was to have something memorable and elegant but also simple. I have been making a concerted effort not to overcomplicate my songwriting, opting for hooks that are more simplistic. I think that the singer did a great job taking that simple hook an verse melody structure, and really bringing it to life. Originally I planned the vocal to be very chill/laid back, but she provided a vocal that was passionate &energetic while also achieving a calm/melancholy feeling. I thought she really did a wonderful job overall

Lyrics
I've been changing
Changing like the weather
When the storm subsides
When the skies are bright
Will life be better?
Don't you know that
Know that I've been lost
I'm caught In between the daylight
And the dark
And the dark
I've been hoping
For new horizons
The night is all that I know
But the sun is rising
Don't you know that
Know that I've been lost
I'm caught In between the daylight
And the dark
And the dark
