I was put into a competition where I was the odd ball. The solo keyboard player vs. singer/songwriters armed with their guitars. The experience forever changed me because it did not matter to me that I was different, I was gonna do me, no matter what. In this competition I was the stand out performer, but the radio wanted a rockstar and I wasn't that for their mostly rock station.
Song Description
Defying all the odds and being who you are is a part of what this song is all about. We live in a world where we are constantly told how to dress, how to act, who to be. And when we are so different our voices are sometimes left behind. As an LGBT artist it is my job to write those songs and tell our story. We are not cookie cutter people but it seems to be the way the industry and the world prefer it to stay. Never give up, even if you are the odd one out.
