Angelica Cassidy wrote "Choose Joy" originally in 2015 for her "Heal The World" series. She recorded the electronic-pop version and released it in 2016. She decided to revive the song in August 2020, and record an unplugged version of the song. She felt the world needed the message through the Coronavirus pandemic.
