Story Behind The Song
Some friends of mine who moved away stopped staying in touch and, although I tried to stay in touch, they never returned the contact. This song was written because I was wondering why they didn't try to contact me.

Lyrics
When Friends Move Away
1. When friends move away, distance can be in miles or thoughts.
Both bringing different kinds of loss.
Remember how we really gelled.
For instance, in a quiet spell,
I knew you'd always listen well.
2. When friends move away, at times they find they leave regret
For expectations that weren't met.
Maybe, somehow, you thought I knew
Things that I then should have pursued,
I found out much too late to do.
Chorus I truly thought our friendship would remain.
That what we shared would linger on to stay.
So, when images of our past start to fade
I'll focus on the best of yesterday.
3. When friends move away, if what they had then meant so much,
They ought to try to stay in touch.
I hope, in time, we reconnect,
Make memories we haven't yet.
Oh, is that too much to expect?
Chorus I truly thought our friendship would remain.
That what we shared would linger on to stay.
So, when images of our past start to fade
I'll focus on the best of yesterday.
