Story Behind The Song
Award winning South African singer, Yolande Strauss and Casia met over the internet and their words and melodies immediately entwined. They began working on an album of bittersweet, haunting love songs about the trials and tribulations of relationships.
Song Description
A heart wrenching ballad about leaving bad love. The memories, the tears and the emotional nakedness when you leave everything behind. You still want to hang on when you know deep down that it's hopeless and dysfunctional.
The intention was to create this ballad within the timeframe of under 4 minutes, but when we actually completed it, the band just couldn't bring themselves to cut anything. Yolande has such a smooth, pleasing vocal we wanted the song to go on and on, so we left it in it's entirety. We knew if we cut something, it would no longer make sense and complete the story it was intended to tell.

V1.
I'm still wearing your jeans
The pant legs drag along
Leaving a trail behind
As I try to hold on
I wipe away my tears
Not feeling very strong but the trail just keeps on going on and on
CH.
This is the last misty rain that you'll ever see
This is the last time the yellow dog will play in the breeze
This is the last time you'll see these jeans that you wore
It is my only reminder as I walk out the door
V2.
Your breath against my lips
Your body against mine
I was picking flowers
When our hearts became entwined
But the thorns on the branches
They cut deep inside so I'm walking away leaving you behind
CH.
This is the last misty rain that you'll ever see
This is the last time the yellow dog will play in the breeze
This is the last time you'll see these jeans that you wore
It is my only reminder as I walk out the door
SOLO
BR
My suitcase is packed and so is my life
The neighbors are staring through cold black eyes
My whole sense of being
Is thrown in with my clothes
And I'm standing naked
On the side of the road
CH.
This is the last misty rain that you'll ever see
This is the last time the yellow dog will play in the breeze
This is the last time you'll see these jeans that you wore
It is my only reminder as I walk out the door
V3.
And you're standing alone
With your cheap cigarettes
As the smoke becomes fog
Throwing words of regret
But I can't see clearly
I take the next step with all my memories I want to forget
CH.
This is the last misty rain that you'll ever see
This is the last time the yellow dog will play in the breeze
This is the last time you'll see these jeans that you wore
It is my only reminder as I walk out the door
It is my only reminder as I walk out the door
