I work as hard as any man can, no-one cares who I am,
not the colour of my skin or where I'm from, as long as I'm here then I belong,
we spend all day in the wind and rain, working on the Next New Road

I like a drink, I like to laugh, Dancing up close is where it's at,

Mercury's up in the middle of summer, I get so hot I'm running for cover,

When this road's done another's begun, where are they going or coming from,
