Song Description
Many of my generation turned away from right and went wrong. A kind of self destructive wrong that invites evil into your heart and robs you of any possible joy. Seeking to regain that joy a broken man seeks the grace of God to replace his ability to live a joyful glad filled life.

Lyrics
chorus 1
I was a bad man, a bad man Lord
A bad man, was bad as I could be.
I was a bad man, a bad man Lord
I needed more of You an' a lil' less O' me.
vs1
Even when I knew it wasn't right,
I didn't bother to change my life.
Little things like rules and regulations,
were not considered, in my calculations.
vs2
Evry' day, stumblin' out of bed.
Whiskey n' dope, still swirlin' in my head.
Cuttin' all corners, that I could.
Bendin' the truth was my livelihood
caus' it suited my situation.
chorus 2
I was a bad man, in need of grace.
A bad man, I could not stand the pace.
I was a sad man, lookin' fo' Yo' embrace.
I needed more of You, these feelings to erase.
vs3
My pride, I must admit,
is a dangerous emotion.
Everything, that I did,
Disaster and commotion.
vs4
I knew I wasn't good.
I never felt right, or understood.
Why I never felt any joy.
Like when I new You as a little boy....
chorus 3
I was a sad man, a sad man Lord
I was a sad man, sorry as can be.
I was a sad man, give me strength Lord
I needed more of you and a lil' less o' me.
chorus 4
I was a bad man, then a sad man Lord.
I was a sad man, as sorry as can be.
I was a bad man, then a sad man Lord
I needed more of you and n' a whole lot less o' me.
Bridge
I need to know,
bout' this emptiness, deep inside.
Please help me, I finally figured' out.
I've been sidetracked, bushwacked, gone astray.
Here me as I pray
Chorus 5
I wanna be glad man, not a bad man Lord.
A glad man, with Your mercy I can be.
A glad man, not a sad man Lord.
I need, more of you, n' a whole lot less o' me.
solo break over vs 5
vs6
Yes I found, that when I strayed.
I was lost, in the devil's cold embrace.
Then I dropped down to my knees an' prayed,
for mercy, Your merciful grace........
chorus (Vamp Out)
I'm a glad man, You set me free. (a glad man Lord)
A glad man, I'm as happy as can be.
I'm a glad man, anyone can see.
I need more of you, n' a whole lot less o' me.
