Story Behind The Song
Love the song, but hate the broadway feel of almost everyone who sings it? Almost always over-sung and over drama'ed. So I created a beautiful and HAUNTING more POP version with my own gorgeous counter melody in the strings. This should evoke sadness, hopelessness, lost love, betrayal, and wasted time: a wasted life of regret. However, at the very ending, I changed the feel, added a phrase that adds back in some hope and encouragement so all is not lost. My version has haunting lyrics and a stellar melody that many people already love. I am called the female version of Josh Groban and many people say it sounds a bit like him, which is a compliment.
Song Description
This poignant song, arranged by Deborah Wedekind, incorporates the feel of Susan Boyle's hit "I DREAMED a DREAM", but MORE POP. There's full orchestration, more of a lighter vocal feel, and a Linda Ronstadt quality to her vocals. INSTRUMENTAL only available. A moving string counter melody evokes the sadness throughout. Lyrics
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dreams to shame....
He slept a summer by my side,
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride,
But he was gone when autumn came.
But still I dream he'll come to me,
That we would live the years together,
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be,
So different from this HELL I'm living
So different now, from what it seemed,
Now life has killed the dream I dream...
...But still I dream.
