FOLLOW THE CROWD © Earl.C.Webb 27/8/2014

White girl on a white chair
Looking out across a hazy sky
Inspiration somewhere there
Just waiting 'till the notes float by
She stares into blue
From her room with a view
And she smiles as she looks down on you

White piano never plays
But in her head a virtuoso solo
The queen of all that she surveys
Far from the madness going on below
She's feeling your pain
As she tries once again
But the silence is her sweet refrain
She says
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd, she says
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
The silence is so loud she wonders when it's going to stop
And life is kind of lonely when you're sitting at the top
That's the price to pay if you don't follow the crowd

You call that heaven where you are
The world below you waiting for a saviour
Can we join you on your star?
If we're are acting on our best behaviour
Are we right, are we wrong?
Won't you play us your song?
Just hum the tune and we'll sing along
She says
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd, she says
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
The silence is so loud she wonders when it's going to stop
And life is kind of lonely when you're sitting at the top
That's the price to pay if you don't follow the crowd

We know you're out there, we know you're alone
Patiently waiting for you to come home
We're feeling your pain
Can you try once again?
Don't let the silence be your sweet refrain

Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd, she says
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
The silence is so loud she wonders when it's going to stop
And life is kind of lonely when you're sitting at the top
That's the price to pay if you don't follow the crowd

Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd, she says
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd, she says
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd
Don't want to follow the crowd

Lyrics are amazing, instruments being used perfectly. If this song was engineered a little better this would be a perfect song. I personally hear this being placed for movies.

Something of David Bowie in this voice - like it a lot!!!!

* lyrics are really interesting - and meaningful
* lead vocal is strong and has soulful character
* excellent arrangement and natural sounding production
* an "original" tune; a.k.a. New Age Beatles, Queen, etc.
