Story Behind The Song

For 3 or 4 years I performed at a blues festival in Providence, RI called "the Big Winter Blues Bash"...each year I would open the show with original blues tunes and then hand the reins over to "Roomful of Blues" , the headliner band. One year the show fell on my husband Joe's birthday...so I wrote the song and presented it to him at the concert...Well...the women went nuts...he was struttin' around like a peacock...All through the 90's I included the song in my solo act and it was by far one of my most requested tunes by women...I no longer perform live and concentrate my attention on songwriting and production but women still come up to me and shimmy around yellin "Smokin Joe"!

This song is all sexy, bluesy fun...it is straight ahead Blues...not real complicated and should be sung with a lot of attitude...and sexiness (of couse...)
