Story Behind The Song
John Coltrane's original track made a big impact on me. Then, when McLaughlin and Santana did their variation in '73, I was hooked on this piece.
I've wanted to do my own variation for some time, but, I needed a collaborator who was just right. That's Mark Sloniker on keys, and we've made music together for many years and are on the same wavelength now.
Song Description
You must live a considerable life before attempting to do your own version of this song.
I wanted to put MY stamp on it...hence, it's titled MY Love Supreme.
I hope many will enjoy it and think about love in a new way - no ownership, pure freely given love.
I got this idea from watching the interaction between my grandson and his new kitten. I'm teaching my grandson to let the kitten love him in a freely, non-demanding manner.
IF there is a creator, it's love can not be like our self-centered kind...it must be freely given and nothing expected in return - no demand of obedience and worship.
Most religions can't handle this level of love as it give people the power of self-determination.
