Story Behind The Song
I was once involved with an angry man. He wasn't angry at me but at himself for mishandling earlier relationships. But the anger came out in our relationship. I loved him but couldn't put myself in the position of being the recipient of his current vitriol. So I left and soon after wrote this song. When my brother, Scott, wanted to put this in our first musical, "Paris on the Brain," the song treatment became more upbeat than my original version and lent itself to the plot very well. The background vocals were a lot of fun to do.

Lyrics
You Don't Know How I Feel
Chorus:
You don't know how I feel
You don't seem to care
I'm way over here
And you're way over there
Meet me in the middle
Or we don't stand a prayer
'Cause you don't know how I feel, baby,
You don't seem to care
I'd take you back in a heartbeat if you'd let me
Into your heart as well as your home
But I can't let go of this dream that holds me
And tells me I'm not alone
So why do I feel so lonely when you're with me
You silence keeps us apart
Chorus
There's not a day goes by I don't miss you
I love you now as I loved you then
But I can't concede until we've agreed
That this won't be happening again
You don't have to tell me all your secrets
I don't share all of mine
Chorus
Bridge:
Another day, another week
Another year that we don't speak
And so the time goes passing by
There you are and here am I
Chorus
