"The title track of this EP, "In Passing," sets the tone for this set of songs as a whole. Just as the song rests in the middle of the record as a transitional song, the lyrics allude to a transitional point in life. I wrote that song as a reflection of a year from the passing summer going into the next one. What's interesting is that while I was writing that song I realized I could probably write that song every year. Every year we see different people, places, and responsibilities come and go. When you look back on an entire year of your life it's tough to decipher every little thing that changed, and yet you still feel like something's different."
