Story Behind The Song
I wanted to write something that could be sung around a campfire, with one person playing the guitar, and everyone listening while the sounds of nature are nearby, and the mood of quiet introspection it felt by everyone. I also wanted to create a "trance-like" feeling, a hypnotic mood that would cast a spell and make life seem like the long, melancholic tale of change that it often is for people.
Song Description
As the years go by, we often build an ineffable sense of our fragility, our varying emotions, and the way things change, sometimes making us sadder and sometimes filling us with a sense of yearning for what is possible. Beauty, love, connection, loneliness, yearning, nature, technology, hope and regret all find themselves coloring the flow of this song. It's mostly about the act of thinking, looking around, being silent and living with your deepest emotions, with or without others present. It's about time going by, and the human desire to make the most of it, while regretting things already gone.

Lyrics
Song of Longing
I wish I had longer days.
I've got so much more to say
Than I do.
Dreams rise with the setting sun.
I wish I could tell someone
What I feel.
Oh if only I could plan ahead.
There'd be fewer things left unsaid.
Life's filled with such beautiful things
Moonlight, and the woods in Spring,
And her eyes...
I'm restless in my bed at night;
Windows bathed in softest light.
How I yearn...
Oh if only time would just slow down,
I could take a longer look around.
I'm watching all the cars go by,
I wish I had wings to fly
Far away.
Worn out from this crazy pace,
Self-doubt is a lonely place.
I'm so tired...
And if only we weren't so resigned,
There'd be fewer dreams left behind...
