Story Behind The Song

I came into a relationship with a woman who had two boys and this actually happened and I saw it with my own eyes how the younger boys Dad treated him different than the other dad even though he helped raise him for a few years before he had his own child with the mother. I came to be both of their fathers and gave them both the same love they deserved from a real man. The older son that didnt know his real Dad only had a vision of his Dad. But turns out they both love me as their Dad. The story is a story that happens all the time with imature men that see past their jealousy and realize that those kids all need love and if you going to take on a built in family you better have a big heart and love them all the same. It's about growing up with out a Dad and then a good guy comes along a nd steps into those empty shoes and fills them well. Now they have a complete family. I wrote this before brad paisly had his hit.
