Story Behind The Song
The song is inspired by a talented young singer/song-writer I had worked with in the past. Wrote this song in one evening.
Song Description
The main male character was in love with a talented female singer who later had become popular, while "he" had never had a successful career. He makes a living playing guitar in bars and pubs, dreaming of reconnecting with "her" some day. He sings about how "she" inspires him.

Lyrics
SING TO ME! (MY LITTLE STAR)
Verse 1
A tin cup and this old guitar...
I'm singing love songs in the bar.
For a small donation or a beer
I'll do requests. A ballad, dear?
Thank you, sweetheart! Here we go.
A song I wrote long time ago...
Verse 2
There was a girl, she loved to sing...
Sweet voice, dark eyes - a gorgeous thing!
Late summer was when we first met
Those August days I can't forget...
She had a band, played rhythm guitar
And I was calling her "My Star"
Refrain
Like a lighthouse that brings sailors home
You shine for me through darkest storm.
Why do you have to be so far?
Sing to me, my little star!
Verse 3
She made a record, went on tour,
Big star of music and glamour;
Smiling from the covers of fancy magazines
Sun glasses, hats and limousines...
I followed her across the sea
So scared she won't remember me...
Bridge
Have I become a speck of dust
Lost in the universe of past?
Refrain
Like a lighthouse that brings sailors home
You shine for me through darkest storm.
Why do you have to be so far?
Sing to me, my little star!
Verse 4
The sun has sunk, I'm heading West
I've got to get things off my chest.
Pushing the road beneath my feet
I'm spinning Earth until we meet.
Why do I yearn for your cold light?
Why do you only shine at night?
Refrain
Like a lighthouse that brings sailors home
You shine for me through darkest storm.
Why do you have to be so far?
Sing to me, my little star!
