Story Behind The Song
War took over the news. Again. It was inescapable. So all those feelings of "why, why again?" were hitting me. At the same time my neighborhood was under construction, constant banging, slamming, and demolition. And it occurred to me that the war was demolition of the old ways, a battle over ideas. And when the demolition was done, peace would fill the cracks, rebuild a better, more hopeful world. And it will, peace will find the cracks to fill. But I can't wait till the demolition's done.
Song Description
Frustration that the old world ideals keep dragging us into war, but hope that when the demolition is done, peace will fill the cracks and heal us. Hopeful resolve.

Lyrics
The world's all in flames
While the politicians
Play their games
The old world's breathing
Fire from the past
Peaceful people just trying to last
And it will, and it will
Peace will find the cracks to fill
But I can't wait
Till the demolition's done
No, I can't wait
Till the demolition's done
The old world's coming down
Can you hear, the war drum sound?
The hard line's dying off
Meanwhile, the people pay the cost
And it will, and it will
Peace will find the cracks to fill
But I can't wait
Till the demolition's done
No, I can't wait
Till the demolition's done
Peace is the vision in my heart
Come what may I rise each day
Try to do my part
The future don't make me sad
The future keeps the good
And leaves the bad
Will I live long enough to see
The rebirth of humanity?
Where hate has no place to hide
And love warms us all
Like the old sunshine
And it will, and it will
Peace will find the cracks to fill
But I can't wait
Till the demolition's done
No, I can't wait
Till the demolition's done
