Story Behind The Song
The Treacherous Muscle Shoals, also known as the impassable Muscle Shoals is where the Tennessee River makes its greatest drop in elevation. Before TVA built dams on the river, barge workers dreaded passing by. The Native Americans refered to the Tennessee as the Singing River. The water on the rapids could be heard for miles.

Lyrics
Along the Southern Side of the Rolling Tennessee
2003 Phillip Barry Powell
Night time falls with the setting sun,
I am going to have to find my way
Back to the valley where I was born,
Where the river carves blue walls of stone
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Past spring creek and around the bend
Just across from Seven-Mile Island,
Are the caves where we men carved into stone,
A place to lay their daily bread
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Take me to the river shoal,
It is the only place I know
Where holy hearts are grown
Just Take me home to the Muscle Shoals
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
There are lilies in the valley, where the stars always fall
And the jewels of the river are the souls that walk along
This river Jordan where the holy paint the walls
Just take me home to The Muscle Shoals
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
A time ago, It is where I called home
Before this life, that I, now know
Along the river side before the giant stones
We picked Arrow heads from the red clay walls
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Take me to the river shoal,
It is the only place I know
Where holy hearts are grown
Take me home to The Muscle Shoals
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
Along the southern side of the rolling Tennessee
