Story Behind The Song
I wrote this for my friend who lost her son to a motor bike accident ... her grief was overwhelming ... she is un-named
I am very proud that Jon Klein (Siouxie and the Banshees/Sinead O'Connor/Jah Wobble) was involved in writing this track with me and that he is playing a magnificent rock solo on the outro!
Song Description
A very spacious double verse featuring a simple hypnotic repeat pattern on piano that builds gently to a mid 8 section with kit, bass
The lyric unfolds the story of survival of trauma/pain/loss - it can fit any picture in this arena
The lyric then shifts to a repeat riff expressing new hope and freedom
The background chorus has a gospel feel swell
The song outros on a very long rock guitar solo

There were blue days
Or darker
Mornins' when the moon was in the sky
Lonely days
Endless hours
And time I didn't know was passin' by
I had questions
With no answers
Nights without sleepin'
Till the dawn
Worried times
Full of fears
But all that is past and gone
An' I've lost that old longin'
That old heartache
Lost that old yearnin'
Yeah
I'm livin' my future now
Been lookin' at myself
Beyond the glass
My freedom is comin'
An' I don't even have to try
Because I'm free now
I can be now
I can be me
Just be
