Story Behind The Song
At the age of four my father left me with my grandmother and said he would be back in two weeks to get me. He never returned and she (my grandmother) was either mentally ill or demon possessed. Whatever it was that was wrong with her, she rained bloody beatings on me until I was old enough to run away. Although she is dead and gone, this song is my chance to tell her that she failed in her attempt to break my spirit and brainwash me with her lies about who and what I am. This is my declaration that I am the "Winner".

Lyrics
I'm The Winner
Copyright 2009 S. Towery
I'm the winner, You can't stop me now
I'm the winner, you can't stop me
I remember how you tried to break me down, I was just a little kid looking for love from someone who cared for me.
You were so mean and angry like it was my fault that my father had abandoned me and left me there for you to keep me
My blood was flowing daily from your brutal wrath
My tears came rolling down enough to fill the bathroom bath
I begged and begged for mercy don't hit me there no more
You tried to break me down but that's ok cause grandma I'm the winner
I'm the winner, You can't stop me now
I'm the winner, you can't stop me
All my life I looked for ways that I could die, I was caught up in your web of lies about my color and complexion
You said that I was evil, just a trash can child so unworthy that my mother and my father both gave me rejections
You tried to break my faith but I was just too strong
You tried to hurt me bad but I learned how to take it on
And I became much more than you said I could ever be
Cause I am worthy to be loved and that means truly I'm the winner
I'm the winner, You can't hurt me now
I'm the winner, you can't hurt me
In the middle of the night, you crept on me like a thief in the night,
bringing the pain from the strap with the lights, swinging so hard and with all of your might
But I learned to endure cause I'm stronger than you, I could take a beating much longer than you, could give me, you couldn't break me, You tried to hurt me, But I'm Stoney Dig
I'm the one who found the light, and became a minister so I could spread the light
To all the kids with skin dark as the night, Teach them to have faith and it will be alright
Because I learned all about what is true, and all about the sin that's in people
like you, and all about the evil that evil ones do big sinner, its true, I'm the winner
I'm the winner, You can't stop me now
I'm the winner, you can't stop me
