Story Behind The Song
This song emerged as if out of nowhere, while I was 'playing' with a drum machine and a simple chord progression. The story is fiction, but it sounds true.
Song Description
A relationship that was once strong is on the verge of ending. The couple has split, and the guy rationalizes that he doesn't go out because there's 'too much work that needs to be done'. He carries a feeling of shame that it didn't work out, as revealed when he says, "I can't go where I might be seen".

Lyrics
I don't go out
Too much work that needs to be done
And anyhow, it's my choice
Don't need to have fun
I don't go out
Simply said, I stay in my head
And I'm all right - that's what I said,
I'll be all right
Did I say something I didn't mean?
Don't let rumours ruin our thing
Can't go where I might be seen
I don't go out
Just need a few more days to myself
Sort it out . . . forget the past
Is that too much to ask?
Remember when we laughed at the same things
Remember when we were one and the same
How could we ever let that go?
I knew you and you knew me inside out
We didn't have to go too far to find that out
It was just natural
I don't go out
There is no compromise this time
Unless of course you change your mind
And I change mine
I don't go out
Don't go out alone
But, hey, what about you?
