Story Behind The Song
The song came to me while vacationing through Eastern Europe in the winter of 1993. It was the height of the Bosnian War, and I had just travelled from Ljubljana to Budapest, where Bosnian refugees were attempting to board at the depot - I'll never forget having to step onto a Vienna-bound train past armed soldiers who had blocked a sobbing woman desperately wanting to get on with her infant. I shared a car booth with a Bosnia boy in his late teens, and at every stop bullying soldiers appeared trying to eject him. But he had a crumpled, handwritten note that he shoved in each of their faces, and they would invariably back off. He explained to my companions and me that he had lost his entire family to the war but was hoping to make it to Vienna where one of his last living relatives, an uncle, lived. That day stuck with me and the song coalesced in my mind over the rest of my journey.

Lyrics
WHERE WOULD I GO
Where would I go
Where would I stay
If all your love were to leave me behind
Where would I go
Where would I be
Other than here
Should this time be all that we have
Where would I be
Were this the same as before
And all forgot
Would you welcome me
As before
Where would I go
Where would I stay
If all our dreams were lost in vain
Where would I go
