the prophet Isaiah wrote the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah some seven-hundred years before the passion of the Christ happened.

who hath believed our report
and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed
He shall grow up as a root
both despised and rejected His path is sealed
bearing our grief, He carries our sorrows
acquainted with grief, a man of sorrows

we like sheep, have gone astray
we have turned our separate ways
our faces we hide from Him
through our veil His love grows dim

He was oppressed and He was afflicted
He was brought as a lamb to the slaughter
He was despised, rejected of men
cut up out of the land of the living
He was wounded for our transgressions
He was born of grief, stricken, smitten
He was bruised for all our iniquities
He made His grave with the wicked in death
Thou shall make His soul an offering for sin
He shall see the travail of His soul
My righteous servant shall justify many
He shall divide the spoils with the strong
for He shall bare all their iniquities
He bore the sins of many transgressors
He was taken from prison and judgment
He has poured out His soul unto death
He was numbered with the transgressors
for He shall declare His generation
He has bourn our grief's and carried our sorrows
and by His stripes, we are healed
