Story Behind The Song

I co-wrote this song with my boyfriend Brian. I mentioned to him that I wanted to write a "redneck anthem" and he said, "you should write a song about Wal-Mart". I thought that was a brilliant idea. We talked about writing the first verse vaguely, so you might think the song was about a bar instead of Wal-Mart. He said, "yeah, like you could say how the parking lot is always packed and there is somebody standing at the door". From there, the song took on a life of it's own. I made a list of Wal-Mart related things, and tried to incorporate as many of those things in the song as I could...everything from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's clothing line to the fact that people always seem to give directions from where Wal-Mart is or where Wal-Mart used to be. In fact, my friend Laura's 5 year old daughter once told me where her daycare was by saying, "do you know where Wal-Mart used to be?" Sometimes I have trouble singing it without laughing.

Look out Trace Adkins and Big & Rich because I've got a novelty song too! :) This song is about everybody's favorite place - Wal-Mart! Personally, I have been known to spend hours wandering aimlessly around that discount heaven....where I will always see somebody I know and be amazed at how everything I need is there. Wally World rocks!
