Lyrics

Ashes- (revised 2015)

VS.1
At seventeen, I fell hard in love.
She was pretty as the whitest dove.
Broke my heart my senior year.
Said she was moving far from here.
Off to school for a much better way.
Burned me bad when she left that day.
Ashes to ashes they all fall down,
We all have ashes floating around.

VS.2
Went off to war to be a hero.
Guns and bombs were a heavy load.
Fought for the good ole USA.
Battle wounds continue to rage.
After the war trying to reconnect.
Emotional scars around my neck.
Ashes to ashes they all fall down.
We all have ashes floating around.

(Bridge)
The things we go through can make us strong.
Learn about them as we go along.
Ashes are things in our past.
They burnt us once, but they won't be the last.
Ashes to ashes they all fall down,
Ashes to ashes they all fall down
We all have ashes floating around.

VS. 3
We all go through pain, get knocked around.
(But) those burns have made me stronger now.
Spent some time down on my knees.

Asking the good Lord to give me strength
Laid them down got past the flames.
Very proud of how far I've came.
Ashes to ashes they fall down,
We all have ashes floating around.
They all Fall down.

A beauty of a Country song. Great lyrics and delivered with gusto. Well balanced production. Top notch on all levels!

Intro catches you right off! Heart felt lyrics, sounds like its non fiction. Tasty guitar. Well done.

I like the demo. The vocal and playing are very good and at a professional level. I can see this being a great tune to hear live.

Great vocals and instrumentation.

Great instrumentation and vocals. The song has a really good feel too it. I could definitely hear a number of Country Artists singing this song. I hope it works well for you.

Wow, great entry, great toe tappin' groove. Lead vocal strong and good vocal. Interesting "ashes" analogy/metaphor you got going. I like the overall lyrics here. Great potential to this song, with a few lyrical adjustments. Well done and production quality is splendid.

It's a great original sounding title to work from. Good strong vocal. Solid instrumentation and arrangement although the constant 8th notes from the bass seems overbearing at times. Good story song. I like the dynamic changes and the breakdown. Very easy to listen to. Good pro sound to it!

The vocals and instrumental performances on this track are wonderful. The recording is great. The arrangement is fine. The melody flows nicely. The guitar hooks are sweet. Track has a nice feel.

Nice job buddy! Awesome song! Keep it up!

I feel this song is more a country rock song than a country contemporary, but that is absolutely fine with me. I enjoyed the underlying rhythm driving the song forward and the lyrics were somewhat original for a country song, which I also liked. All and all a nice new acquaintance for me. Good luck with the song!

Really strong hook and song idea. melody and lyrics were excellent. The strength of this song is the lyric. Melody is solid. Vocal is excellent and I like hearing an uptempo song in the contemporary country category on these reviews! Background vocals at the end were a nice touch.

This a good example of Americana/rock...the lyric tells a story...this type of personal first person song is great for the writer/artist but finding another artist who lived this story might prove difficult...I'm hoping you wrote this for yourself as the artist...it's a meaningful hook and I love the metaphor...great job

Good message and lyric. Good storytelling in the song leading
to a conclusion. Nice guitars in the background.

Great Country Sound! Very "today's radio" sounding.
Nice job all around

I like the lead singer - sounds a little like Jason Aldean - I really like the drums as well. Great message!

Nicely put together song, production is very good, great clarity of vocal.
