Story Behind The Song
The first line of lyrics is a direct response to something that was said to me in the midst of the crash and burn of a devastating relationship breakup - a well-meaning acquaintance said "Well, it's a blessing you found out now, and that it didn't go on any longer." Hence the lyrics, "I feel ripped off, I don't feel blessed".
Song Description
In a relationship, when one person betrays the other, or suddenly turns away and finishes it, all of the special and precious things shared and created during that relationship can instantly seem tainted, and worthless - leaving the betrayed person to question, among many things, why they didn't see it coming.

Lyrics
Strange Victory
I feel ripped off, I don't feel blessed
Why oh why was our love exposed to be such a sorry mess
You could have let me down easy, you could have cared
For all the times you pleased me, all the specialties we shared
I don't know you
I don't know you
I don't know you, I thought I did
You know I never really asked for all that much
Just sincerity - skin to skin, mouth to mouth, touch to touch
You could have let me down gently from where we'd been
But once you knew you had me, you'd won your strange victory
I don't know you
I don't know you
I don't know you, I thought I did
