Story Behind The Song
I was asked/invited to write a song for the Founding Fathers celebration at Davis Thayer Elementary School! I'm always up for a songwriting challenge! I was glad to do it!
Believe it or not, I've sold a few copies of this song on Broadjam! :-)

Lyrics
Davis Thayer moved his family
To the town of Franklin so his brother and he
Could start up something new and something fun
It was the turn of a brand new century
When they started their straw hat factory
And watched as their profits soared up to the sun
Refrain:
So let?s tip our hats to Davis Thayer
A politician and a straw hat maker
And Franklin?s first postmaster, that?s no lie
So let?s tip our hats to Davis Thayer
I?m sure if he wanted to he could?ve been mayor
For Davis Thayer was really quite a guy
Now Davis Thayer was moving faster
As he soon became our town?s first postmaster
Putting the first Post Office inside his store
A politician for the town much later
There was just no stopping this Davis Thayer
He was always looking to do so much more Refrain
So perhaps it comes as no surprise
That we honor a man who really tries
To make a big diff?rence in our little humble town
You see his name there before your eyes
When you look up high into the skies
Across the top of this school just like a crown Refrain
