Lyrics

Spunky was the way her folks described her
Alabama girl, talkin' bigger than her size
And though she knew the ways of a proper lady
There was always a little mischief in her eyes

She was Semi-Sweet
A little girl with restless feet
Semi-Sweet

One early mornin' servin' "joe" at the local diner
She took a break, to catch a glimpse of the crimson sky
Dropped her keys and apron on the counter
Let her hair down slow
And kissed that life "goodbye"

Bought a funky truck
Filled it with some memories
Drove it south
To get a taste of the salty coast
And though she found the destination friendly
She knew she loved the
"Gettin' there" the most

She was Semi-Sweet
A little girl with restless feet
Semi-Sweet
A little ice and a little heat
Semi-Sweet
Not too rough and not too neat
Semi-Sweet

She'd been dreamin' of serpentine roads
Of eighteen wheelers with mysterious loads
Of seein' this country of red, white and blue
And learnin' the secrets
That were just out of view

She got a gig ridin' shotgun out of Houston
With a boy named Earl
And his rig dubbed "A Little Mo"
Earl gave her lessons in survivin'
In a long haul world
With a short amount of dough

A year later they were hitched
in a church in Reno
Honeymooned, flyin' low on the interstate
Gave "A Little Mo" a brand new paintjob
And a brand new name
Written in electroplate

It reads:
Semi-Sweet
For that little girl with restless feet
Semi- Sweet
The one who's not too rough and not too neat
Semi- Sweet
Who's lookin' at the world from the catbird seat
Semi-Sweet
Makin' the road her home
Makin' the road her home
Makin' the road her home

very, very nice. love it

Sweet song, nice story. The music is smooth and easy to take, more like folk or singer- songwriter style... even Jazz elements seem to come in.. interesting to listen to. Good vocal style. Could be used in the appropriate movie or TV scene.

You had some good lyrics in the song, and a nice tempo for the song.

Excellent song. Very detailed and easy to follow. Music was tight. Enjoyed it

Love the song in general. Keys, bass and percussion really compliment each other. Great lyrics.

THE STORY TELLING OF YOUR LYRICS SRE GREAT vocals are somewhat hard to understand at times but enjoyed it

Needs work more folk than country

Nice and easy listen , thank you .

Fantastic storytelling! Excellent lyric writing! So creative. Purely great songwriting. Love the production, too. Thanks for some great listening entertainment!

I like this song, full of originality and a challenging arrangement. The lyrics are interesting and charming. The vocal is emotive and effective. Very cool song, good luck with this.

I don't know if it is an overdub of voice, or if it is a choruser being used, but it muddies this guy's good voice.

A good display of instrumentals. I kept waiting for a lead guitar to take off.

Great lyrics. I think a more traditional country melody would suit the song and your voice better. The instruments are too much and its killing the very cool lyrics. Job well done.

Nice lyrics , vocal and guitar. Well done!

Really like it for county. Up there Diamond Rio for me Thanks for the experience
For a style I usually don't listen to I want to hear more.

Like the Buffet vibe. Interesting lyrically and musically. Good tune.

REMINDS ME OF JIM CROCE ..NICE STUFF ..GOOD PRODUCTION...COLD HEAR IN A FILM OR TV SERIES

good idea and hook...lots of positives lyrically. solid overall.

I really enoyed this song. It really took me back to some of the best of the folk music in the 60s.

This is a perfect little story 'bout a restless girl who ultimately winds up travelin' the country with a new everything. Especially like the line..."love the gettin there the most"...kinda says it all...that's as restless as you can get. Nice guitar playing.
