A strange anachronism prone to claim a major schism

Sometimes he questions his own sanity
Could it be

Were those "Good old days" just fantasies

Songs with melodies

Is he THE ONLY ONE
Who still recalls all the battles won
And won't retreat and watch his world undone...

Used to be the neighbors
Would often stop and chat the weather
Now he doesn't see them much at all
They never call
They've joined some congregation
A strict denomination
Of cloth covered faces
Kids and all

Perhaps they've forgotten all the lessons learned
