Story Behind The Song
Reflection of my time living in the big city of Sydney especially in the city centre and apartments and the aspects of what makes the city live and breathe. I was staying in a hotel skyscraper overlooking the harbour and reflecting of my past life in this city and how it can have a hold on you but also glad to break free of it and discover country life and its appeal.
Song Description
Some energetic, some tragic, some powerful, some a sense of living in a rat race. Has a jazzy blues feel that has similarities with songs about New York. They take a life of their own like a living breathing behemoth where its servants are the humans - the human race.

Lyrics
City Lights
Girls in the gutter what's the matter
Gone and glammed up like a candy shop
Looking to be adored for just one night or more
Got a bit more than you bargained for
City lights they sprawl
Beckon me back to familiar places
Commuters glide past on reflected glass
scanning their emails navigating the sails
Rivers of red and white continue their daily grind
Longing to get home for the night
City lights they sprawl
Beckon me back to familiar places (rpt)
Towers of steel and glass preside over every class
Letters in red and blue who knows what they do
They daily play their games to keep their graffitied names
Must keep the engine heaving must keep it all breathing
Fashion stores glitter, high heels clatter
The parade of fitted suits making it matter
This city that never sleeps, This city that hums and thrums
Anticipating, redecorating
City lights they sprawl
Beckon me back to familiar places
City lights that always dazzle
City lights to make me frazzle
City where the traffic groans
City where the music moans
City lights where the sirens wail
City lights hide tragic tails
City lights up in my face
This is the human race
City lights they sprawl
Beckon me back to familiar places
