We were driving from Alaska to back East, 4-5 days of remote gas pumps, wild horses, buffalo and bear, steep grades and raging rivers , rare signs of homesteads.. A beautiful field of huge round hay bales , glowing in the sun, appears out of nowhere and hit that nerve in me, taking me back to the hayfields of my past, opening my heart to the real beauty of country America and 'home'.I am a girl but loved throwing those bales with the boys, the hot sun and good smells a treasured part of me.
