Story Behind The Song
Jesus' hands are a picture in my mind of power, healing and are more precious than gold. I was inspired to write about those Scarred Hands and a little of what they mean to me.
Song Description
It is all out there, everything our mothers tried to protect us from. Being smart as we are now and knowing the path is narrow, we can step off and get back on. We find no narrow path, deep fast water and no shelter but continue on until finally mired in sin, like quicksand. When we have no hope, live in shame and fear, all we have left is Jesus. Miraculous as it is, those hands seem to lift us out of the quagmire into the light.
Saving grace is a long road from being lost in thistles and too proud to ask for help. My own sin added to the scars on Jesus' Scarred Hands.

Lyrics
Scarred Hands w/m Penny Gottsche bpm 144 3:12
V1- From the narrow path I stray
once again I cannot find my way
the valley's dark, the water fast and deep,
not a shelter for my soul to keep
Channel- Mired in sin I lose my footing in the sand.
My only hope is in His Scarred Hands
Chorus- He lifts me up into is saving grace
from the endless depths of shame and fear
Scarred Hands where sin has left it's trace
lift me up and dry every tear
V2- Untamed thistles grow tall
in their midst is where I alway fall
in too deep unable to discern
foolish pride don't know which way to turn
Channel- Mired in sin I lose my footing in the sand
My only hope is in his Scarred Hands
Chorus- He lifts me up into His saving grace,
from the endless depths of shame and fear
Scarred Hands, where sin has left it's trace
lift me up and dry every tear
Tag- My hope is in his
Scarred Hands , where sin has left it's trace lift me up and dry every tear
