Peace is the Power

Story Behind The Song

We wrote this song about The Arab Spring; with optimism of bringing Arabs and Israelis together and of creating peace for the entire Middle East. The magic comes from using the oud (Middle Eastern lute), the midjwiz (Arabic reeded cane horn), the mezhar (Middle Eastern folk tamborine) and the traditional Saudi Khaijj rhythm played on the doumbek (Middle Eastern drum). These two instruments drive the whole song from the beginning to the end but guitar, bass and drums fuels it. The bridge is spoken word and very easy to understand. The chorus says it all though and is very important because it is sung in both English and Arabic - Peace is the Power / Now is the Hour!

Lyrics

Living in this ancient world
We may never know
Why we fly around the sun
What the seasons show

Take it from the warrior
Or take it from the saint
Take it home - hold it close
Keep it true and safe
CHORUS:
As-salem hua qoo-wa  X2
Peace is the power
Wa haa-thi as-saa3
now is the hour

On beyond the stars and crosses
In another sky
Hangs a slender moon of old
like a shepherd's eye

Watching all throughout the ages
Hoping for the time
When all the children find their places
And walk into the light

CHORUS

Spoken Bridge:
An Arab spring without breeze - a scarab's wing must take its leave
The river runs from holy lands - the fevers rise - the water stands
The city burns like a desert fire - we hear the ancient ocean's choir
From afar we hold our breath - to wait and see what the storm has left

All the tears and all the madness
Bloody photograph
Man and woman - heart to heart
Never turning back

History reveals the truth
History will show
You were on the side of Love
and all the world will know

CHORUS
