Lyrics

Go cab driver!
© 2011 Bruce Mills (ASCAP)

Well, she kissed me wide awake - just like every day
Had our coffee at the table by the window - just like every day
And the telephone rang and she says, "Baby - I'll take that call"
Then she was crying and she was packing up to go

It was a man on the line with my girl - he was calling from far away (and long ago)
She says he was her true love - something I was not supposed to ever know
She says that deep down in her heart - she was always missing him
She says I'm going back to him today - and I hope you understand

Oh, I just cannot believe this girl I loved so much for all these years
Through good and bad times and joy and tears is going to leave me, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
There ain't no way this can be true - or else my living days are through
Without the kind of love I need her to give me, oh, oh, oh

Go - cab driver go (get me out of here)
Gotta catch a seven-forty seven
Got a few miles to go
Pass that traffic - go cab drive
Gotta catch that girl
She's headed for a seven-forty seven

Mm, mm, mm: Well, I guess she thought of me as just a temporary man
A substitute standing in for the man she's really waiting for
And I guess she always thought I'd never feel no pain, no pain
When the day came along, the day came along for her to return to him, oh, oh, oh, oh

And I suppose I always kind of knew her love was just too good to be true
I always kind of knew a day would come - when she'd be up and leaving me - for somebody else
I guess I kind of knew she was just a blessing for a little while
Such a beautiful, such a wonderful angel in my life

Oh, you might think I'm crazy but I just cannot believe that girl
I love so much with all my heart is leaving me, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
No consolation prize could ever be quite sweet enough
I'm gonna find her, hold her, kiss her - I'm gonna get down on my knees

Go - cab driver go
Gotta catch a seven-forty seven
We got a few miles to go - hey!
Pass that traffic - go cab driver, go

Mm ... Gonna catch that girl
I'm gonna get down, I'm gonna get down on my knees
And beg her please
Come on girl, you're everything to me

Go - cab driver go
Gotta catch, gotta catch a seven-forty seven
Just a few more miles to go
Pass that traffic - go cab driver go

Gotta catch that girl, oh
I'm gonna get down, I'm gonna get down, I'm gonna get down on my knees
I am begging you please ...
Come on girl, you're everything to me ...

Great song! I always enjoy songs that have a story to follow. This song would make an excellent video!! Visuals would bring it alive. I liked the shifts in tempo, it kept things interesting. I got a great blues vibe from this track. Good job.
