Story Behind The Song
This was a collaboration between percussionist and vocalist (J.Douglas & S.Heidemann) after Heidemann discovered an eery photo of dark honey sitting in large glass vats, seemingly "absorbing the sun" and losing their fresh, light color.
Song Description
"Black Honey" displays the fine line of sweet innocence, light as honey, and the darkening, maturing or awareness of darkness that comes with exposure to the harsh elements of life. The percussion suggests the journey of it all that is expressed, inferring a timeless nature to the song.

Lyrics
Black honey
Born, the child of son and moon
honey, delectably sweet as love's residue
innocence measured in gold
and hued to the blaze
learning to condone the ancient wisdom at death's door
black honey
bulbous jars of black honey unite
smitten with color and delight,
showing no lack of composure
in their glorious containment
mimicking days end in sheer painted shadow
black honey
when sun beats down upon it
it closes none eye,
nor is shameful of it's own worthiness
but instead
swallows the endless, darkless night
deliciously consumed
black honey
a new knowing of the sun and of the true light within,
through dark fiery skies
whispering a glance into blackness
unperturbed, unpreserved
Discarding innocence of childlike yellow
for the color of origin, the color of night,
Africa Almighty
where peace resides in holy light
where rest is sure
and love knows no boundary
nor is denied
and lives inside.
