Story Behind The Song
"Joseph's Plea" was originally written for a Christmas Cantata, "Hallelujah, There is a Great Joy", by Laura & Eddie Cavazos. Ironically enough, Laura wrote the lyrics while she was pregnant with our oldest son, Jacob. Realizing that it is a favorite among many, we decided to have it recorded separately. In our humble opinion, it is beautifully covered by Tony Martinez, with lush orchestration by Grammy winner, Bobby Flores.
Song Description
Christmas story told from the point of view of Joseph, the Father of Jesus. The frustration, the panic and desperation he felt as the time of Jesus' birth drew near.

Lyrics
JOSEPH'S PLEA
Words: Laura Cavazos
Music: Eddie Cavazos
We've been trav'lin' on for so long.
We've come, we've come so very far.
We've journeyed together, it seems like forever.
We ache to find an open door.
HOW CAN I MAKE YOU SEE? WE NEED A PLACE TO SETTLE
HOW CAN I MAKE YOU SEE?
MY WIFE FEELS PAINS OF A COMING CHILD.
HOW CAN I MAKE YOU SEE? WE NEED A PLACE TO SETTLE.
OH, CAN'T WE STAY FOR AWHILE?
Mary, my wife is with child and she's tired.
The time, the time it draws so near.
The pains feel stronger and stronger and longer.
As I see her eyes, they start to tear.
