Story Behind The Song
Popcorn Sutton was a famous moonshiner in the NC/TN mountains. In the early 2000's he was arrested in NC for parole violation, and a lot of mountain folk were trying to raise money for his legal fund. I was inspired for the song when I went into a country store, and saw a plastic jug on the counter at check out that said, "Popcorn Sutton's Legal Fund - Donations Welcome".

Lyrics
Verse:
I sit here in lock up, just 'cross the state line
For sellin' home brew whiskey, tryin' to make a dime
I call my ol' lady, Come get me from jail
She ain't got no money, she can't go my bail
Chorus: Bring your donations, down to the country store
If you can't save me from prison, I can't bring you your whiskey no more.
Verse:
The judge she done told me, got to do my time.
'cause I broke probation; sellin'shine.
Call me Popcorn Sutton. Don't put heat on me
