Story Behind The Song
While working on "Venus in the Water" (third album), I felt like I needed to change things up a bit. Started experimenting with open E tuning and found it to be moody, haunting, suggests an atmosphere of detachment and alienation.
Song Description
Young man searching for the bad hombre what shot his pa. Ambushed and gut-shot, now lying out in the middle of the desert and slowly dying.

Lyrics
Every star up in the sky
Is burning like a man on fire
Desert rocks and sand don't tell
I lie here in this frozen hell
How long I tracked him I can't say
I'm out here dyin' anyway
Daylight burns right through my skin
Blood is boiling hot again
Bullet in my belly
Not the man I used to be
All I've ever loved
Has passed before my eyes
Every star up in the sky
Fades into an endless night
Desert hums inside my head
Don't know if I'm alive or dead
All I've ever loved
Has passed before my eyes
