Story Behind The Song
This song came to me in my sleep almost fully realized. I was dating a female doctor at the time (hence the healer line) who talked about the stresses of patients dying. The song basically documents my frustration with the relationship. Although I was the one really "reaching".
Song Description
This song was written almost entirely after waking up from a vivid dream. A band was playing the song and I suddenly realized I was dreaming . It was like receiving a gift. Only the last verse had to be written in the light of day. In the dream the girl ( the object of my affection at that time) kept grasping Wile-e-coyote like at the edge of a cliff flailing frantically eventually falling into the abyss. Hence the title
