Story Behind The Song
I met one....just wish she'd stayed around a little longer.
Song Description
Selkie's are scottish mythological creatures who change from seal to human form before coming ashore to make love. They then slip away unless you can find their skin.
It is of course a metaphor for that age old story of meeting someone and wishing it could be more.
The song draws on Scots mythology and the imagery is firmly rooted to the sea.
Song is very intimate and free.

Lyrics
Selkie
Selkie, you came for me
with those eyes that helped me see
an' held me and untethered me
saw the light in me
Though you only stayed one night
and left me with the dawning light.
across the sand I stand and search for you
Selkie
Oh my lover from the sea
Sweet Siren, stay with me
Oh, Selkie
Enshrined entwined like valentines
we gazed until we turned the tide.
slipped our moorings side by side
drifted in a dream
Our kisses they were so right
on that sweet September night
when we shone like firelight
when I lay with you
