Story Behind The Song
A girl I went to high school with faced a similar situation. I had no insight into her family relations, though I imagined it wasn't easy. This is one of the few songs I've written the lyrics first.

Lyrics
"You're not so Frail"
(c) 1995 David Jennings
So she rushed in
Without a clue
Without a conscience clear
She centered on the room
To leave her heart
Inside her head
And prayed the puzzled words
Which answer never came
Only you can make this right
With tears unfurled
Her silence failed
And on their startled eyes
A sense of slight betrayal
So she rushed out
To find her way
Amidst her suffering
She could find no disgrace
Only you can make this right
Take these chains that break your heart
And drive away your darkest part
You're only as strong as they perceive
You're not so far; you're not so free
And what is God to leave your life
And who am I to say,
You're not so frail no more
And now she sits
In deepest thought
She holds the shining child
Which no one had forgot
Within her arms
She sees her fears
The battle won by Love
The message in her tears
Only you can make this right
Take these chains that break your heart
And drive away your darkest part
You're only as strong as they perceive
You're not so far; you're not so free
And what is God to leave your life
And who am I to say,
You're not so frail no more
